Ingredients

  • 2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 c. minced nuts

Directions

  1. Heat chocolate with shortening over low heat-a double boiler works better for this. Mix flour with baking pwdr and salt. Beat Large eggs well; then gradually beat in the sugar. Blend in the chocolate mix and vanilla. Add in flour mix and blend well, stir in nuts. Spread in a greased 8-inch square pan. Bake 350: for 25 min (for moist, chewy brownies); or possibly about 30 min or possibly till tester comes out clean when inserted in the center of the brownies (this will be cakelike brownies). Cold in the pan, then cut into squares.
  2. NOTES : Recipe may be doubled, bake in a greased 9x13" pan at 350: for 25-30 min.
