Baked Ham With Bourbon Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1 c. honey
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. bourbon
  • 1/4 c. orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 x smoked ham half - (6 to 8 lbs)

Directions

  1. Note: One-half c. orange juice may be substituted for bourbon.
  2. Microwave honey and molasses in a 1-qt glass dish at HIGH 1 minute. Whisk to blend. Whisk in bourbon, juice, and mustard.
  3. Remove skin and fat from ham; place ham in a lightly greased 13- by 9-inch pan. Make 1/4-inch-deep cuts in ham in a diamond pattern. Pour glaze over ham.
  4. Bake on lower oven rack at 350 degrees for 2 to 2 1/2 hrs or possibly till a meat thermometer inserted into thickest portion registers 140 degrees, basting every 15 min with glaze.
  5. Remove from pan, reserving drippings. Cover ham, and chill, if you like. Refrigeratereserved drippings.
  6. Remove and throw away fat from drippings. Bring drippings to a boil in a small saucepan. Serve hot with ham.
  7. This recipe yields 12 to 14 servings.
