Ingredients

  • 8 apples, cored
  • Cherry or possibly strawberry preserves
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon mace or possibly nutmeg
  • 1 c. red wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Place apples in a buttered casserole or possibly baking dish. Fill each with preserves. Blend sugar and mace; stir in wine and vanilla extract. Pour over apples. cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Refrigerate 2-4 hrs before serving. Serves 8.
