Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb unsalted butter or possibly margarine - (2 sticks) softened
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. brandy (optional)
  • 1 dsh salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 x egg yolk and minced nuts and raisins or possibly
  • 1 x egg white and coarse sugar colored with blue food coloring

Directions

  1. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Then fold in the Large eggs, brandy, salt, vanilla, and flour. Let rest for at least 30 min in the refrigerator.
  2. Roll out the dough to 1/8-inch thick. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. You can either use cookie cutters or possibly use the point of a toothpick like a knife to cut out cookies in any shapes you want.
  3. Once the cookies have been cut out, gently place them on the baking sheet. Then either brush them with egg yolk and sprinkle with nuts and raisins or possibly brush with egg white and sprinkle with blue sugar.
  4. Bake for about 10 min, or possibly till golden. Use a metal spatula to gently remove each cookie from the baking sheet to a cooling rack or possibly flat plate.
  5. This recipe yields 48 cookies.
