  • 4 lb washed cored apples washed, cored, skins on, cut into 1" pcs

Directions

  1. Simmer apples, covered, in a large saucepan with 1/3 c. water till tender, about 10 min. Transfer mix to a blender. Working in small batches, blend till smooth. Pass through a fine sieve. For a coarser texture, pass apples through a food mill, or possibly pulse in a food processor. Fill 1/4-c. plastic containers or possibly ice-cube trays with puree.
  2. This recipe yields 4 1/4 c. or possibly about 48 cubes.
  3. Comments: Remember to start with silky, smooth purees. You can work up to thicker textures as the baby gets older. If the puree is too thick, you can loosen it with breast lowfat milk, formula, or possibly boiled water.
  4. Yield: 4 1/4 c.
