  • 2 lrg cooking apples peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp grnd nutmeg
  • 1/4 c. butter divided
  • 4 slc French bread (1-inch-thick)

Directions

  1. Combine apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tbs butter in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 5 min or possibly till apple is tender, stirring occasionally. Heat remaining butter in an electric skillet at 350 F. ; place bread in skillet and cook 4 min or possibly till browned. Spoon apple mix over toast. Serve warm.
  2. Serves 4.
