  • 3 lrg Granny Smith apples
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 6 Tbsp. (three-fourths of a stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 c. skim lowfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. frzn apple juice concentrate
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp Tabasco Habanero Sauce, more or possibly less to taste
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Place oven rack in center position and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a shallow two and one-half qt baking dish; set aside. Peel, core and thinly slice apples. You should have about five c. sliced apples. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking pwdr and salt. Stir in melted butter and skim lowfat milk till thoroughly combined. Pour batter into prepared pan. Top with sliced apples, spreading them proportionately over the batter. Don't stir. Combine apple juice concentrate, water and Tabasco Habanero Sauce. Drizzle over apples. In small, clean bowl, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping; sprinkle proportionately over apples. Place in center of oven and bake about 45 min, or possibly till apples are tender. Let cold about 20-to-30 min. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
