An Easter time feast with #FoodilyEaster Recipe
by Anne-Marie Nichols

Easter isn’t until April 24th this year, but I’m already planning our Easter meal.

Of course, there’s Easter candy! Already the candy aisles at the big box stores are bulging with family favorites like Peep’s and Lindt Chocolate Easter Bunnies. And there’s the jillion and one things to do with hard boiled Easter eggs like, healthy deviled eggs or blue cheese deviled eggs.

Forget the blue cheese and chocolate this year. Due to my food sensitivities to cane sugar and milk products, I will be abstaining. But if there’s one thing I’ll indulge in this Easter, it’s lamb!

Lamb, it’s what’s for Easter

When I think of springtime Easter meals, I immediately think of lamb. These past few weeks, I’ve been perusing the meat aisles of Sam’s Club and Costco for a little Easter time lamb inspiration. Should I make Salt-Crusted Leg of Lamb or Cinnamon Leg of Lamb? Or maybe I should grill up some Caramelized Lamb Chops or make lamb chops the way Giada De Laurentiis does?

The April 2011 issue of Bon Appétit Magazine is celebrating Easter Greek style with Lamb Chops with Lemon and Tzatziki. And Cooking Light's April 2011 issue has an amazing looking Herb-Crusted Rack of Lamb. (I’m really considering this one even though racks of lamb sell for $12/pound at Costco.)

Then there are the 5281 lamb recipes on Foodily.com. I’m already overwhelmed and I haven’t even considered side dishes and desserts yet!

Create your own Easter’s menu

So what are you going to make for Easter? One way you can tackle your Easter menu dilemma is to get some help from Foodily.com.

Type in something that sounds good to you for Easter like ham. Then narrow it down some more by picking, for example, a cooking method like slow cooker. You immediately narrow down the list from nearly 12,000 recipe to 155, including my recipe for Crock Pot Ham with Beer and Chutney Glaze. You can do the same thing with appetizers, sides, breads, drinks and desserts.

I’ve created a Springtime Easter Menu for you on Foodily, but it’s super easy to create your own menu. Here’s how:

Play around with recipes and find your favorites to create your perfect Easter meal!

Once you’ve selected a recipe save it to a menu. From the recipe, select the “save” button, save it as an appetizer, main, etc. Then you’ll be asked to name your menu, so create a special Easter menu title.

Continue adding recipes and saving to your Easter menu.

Have a happy – and delicious - Easter!
