Almond Poppy Seed Cake

Sweet heavy cake that is just delicious. Very good without any toppings.I always make it in a 9x13" pan with no topping

Ingredients

  • 1 c. oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ c. milk
  • ½ cup poppy seeds
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 ½ tsp. almond flavoring
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder

Directions

  2. Mix oil, eggs, milk, poppy seeds, vanilla and almond flavor.
  3. Add dry ingredients gradually.
  4. Pour into 9"X13" pan or 2 greased loaf tins and cook at 350º for 50 mins. (It may need a little extra time depending on your oven and pans) Or 15"x10"x1" sheet cake pan for 20 min.
  5. If you want to add a little extra awesome you can make a sugar topping.
  6. For the topping, combine ¾ c. sugar, ¼ c. orange juice, ½ tsp. vanilla and ½ tsp. almond flavor. Mix well and pour over warm cakes.
  7. The topping forms a delicious sugary crust.

  9. Frosting:
  10. 1/3 butter or margarine melted
  11. 3 cups confectioners sugar
  12. 3 Tbsp milk
  13. Combine, beat until smooth. Frost cake
