About me
I am a mother three of the most amazing kids. Alexis is almost 18, Skyler is 15, and Madison is 10. Alexis will be a freshman at George Mason University this fall. I am looking forward to being a Mason Mom! I am learning to love new things and try new recipes. I am a TOTAL recipe freak! I love them...It is an addiction. I am actively participating in Weight Watchers and love to find new and healthy things to eat. I am growing some herbs for the first time this year and I am looking forward to starting my first garden this year. I am 38 years old and I think I have finally grown up:) I am happily married to Gavin. We will celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary this year!
Cooking Influences
I don't really have very many cooking influences. Cooking is new to me. My mother cooked growing up, but I don't think I liked most of what she cooked. I aim to cook things that are loved by my family, so hopefully one day my kids will say that I inspired their cooking.

- March 5, 2012Hi Melissa, good to meet you! Check out all the different groups on this site too, for recipes. I have often just been browsing around to see what the different groups are all about, and have stumbled across some amazing recipes, cooking tips and tricks, and of course, some incredible chefs profiles. We are all much better cooks for keeping an open mind and being willing to try new methods (and old, tried and true as well).
Have fun here, and as Chef Miller said, don't be afraid to ask questions or to post your recipes here. We'd love to see them.
Alison - February 12, 2012Hello, Melissa! Thanks for connecting with me here on C-E-S! You'll find this the friendliest, most useful and informative site on the 'net for cooks and chefs on all levels of proficiency. Do not hesitate to ask your favorites to give you suggestions, help and tips - most of the really active cooks will relish communicating with you. And don't be afraid to post your favorite recipe, something from a family member or friend or one you made up and it worked. We all thrive on feedback, so if you try any cook's recipe, please give your honest opinion and know that it matters to us. Please stay in touch! Best regards, Amos
