About me
I've always been in the kitchen, first as a shy little kid hiding from everyone, then as a cook. I learned by watching. Our family celebrations have always revolved around food and I grew up helping my mom prepare wonderful meals. I taught myself to bake and enjoy baking breads and crackers. I am fascinated by food science and enjoy reading and learning about the "hows" and "whys" of cooking. Food allergies have spurred me to become an expert in ingredient substitution, especially non-dairy and wheat alternatives. I am a supporter of the Local Foods Movement and encourage family and friends to eat locally raised foods. When I am passionate about something I work to share the knowledge. Friends have called me a Resource - a title that I think fits me well.
I'm an elementary school librarian and in my free time when I'm not cooking, baking or teaching others you'll find me reading or spending time with my kids, dogs and husband
