Woodstock Wings

Leave Buffalo and head east to Woodstock New York for the best wings you’ll ever eat! Perfect Super Bowl snack!
If you’ve never been to Woodstock, NY, you’re missing out on lots of great things.
We’re known for our artistic community mostly. Baby boomers will remember the Woodstock Music Festival (1969 & 1994)–which was never held in Woodstock LOL. The last one got closer–Saugerties–but I digress. Famous residents included (the late)Levon Helm and Bob Dylan.
But we have some truly great food here too. We’re nestled in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley which is very well known for good food and good wine. The Mid-Hudson region is home to some of the best wineries…

%E2%80%93which%20was%20never%20held%20in%20Woodstock%20LOL.%20The%20last%20one%20got%20closer%E2%80%93Saugerties%E2%80%93but%20I%20digress.%20Famous%20residents%20included%20(the%20late)Levon%20Helm%20and%20Bob%20Dylan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20we%20have%20some%20truly%20great%20food%20here%20too.%20We%E2%80%99re%20nestled%20in%20New%20York%E2%80%99s%20Mid-Hudson%20Valley%20which%20is%20very%20well%20known%20for%20good%20food%20and%20good%20wine.%20The%20Mid-Hudson%20region%20is%20home%20to%20some%20of%20the%20best%20wineries%20in%20New%20York.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20are%20some%20photos%20from%20the%20weekly%20drum%20circle%20that%E2%80%99s%20held%20in%20the%20village%20square%20each%20Sunday%20during%20the%20summer%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20Buffalo%20(a%20great%20city%20BTW)%20is%20known%20for%20their%20famous%20chicken%20wings.%20They%20are%20great,%20but%20since%20variety%20is%20the%20spice%20of%20life,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20developed%20this%20recipe%20to%20represent%20my%20area%20of%20the%20state.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20wings%20as%20I%20make%20them%20are%20not%20as%20hot%20as%20Buffalo%E2%80%99s%20wings,%20although%20feel%20free%20to%20add%20as%20much%20hot%20sauce%20as%20you%20want%20to%20my%20sauce.%20These%20wings%20have%20a%20sweet%20sauce%20that%20contains%20just%20a%20hint%20of%20Jack%20Daniels%20and%20a%20touch%20of%20chipotle.%20The%20sauce%20is%20reminiscent%20of%20sweet%20and%20sour%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20pretty%20sticky%20so%20have%20a%20lot%20of%20napkins%20on%20hand.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20your%20favorite%20recipe%20for%20the%20wings.%20I%20deep%20fry%20mine%20to%20make%20them%20ultra%20crispy.%20Truthfully,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20much%20into%20baked%20wings.%20They%20seem%20to%20stick%20to%20the%20pan%20and%20they%E2%80%99re%20a%20tad%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20do%20my%20wings%20this%20way%E2%80%93I%20mix%20salt,%20pepper,%20garlic%20powder%20and%20flour%E2%80%93no%20exact%20amounts%20here%E2%80%93and%20I%20toss%20the%20wings%20in%20that.%20Then%20I%20deep%20fry%20them%20at%20350%20degrees%20F%20for%209%20minutes.%20Then%20coat%20them%20with%20the%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20do%20slow%20cooker%20too%20to%20cook%20the%20wings.%20Just%20season%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20salt%20and%20pepper%20and%20cook%20as%20you%20usually%20do.%20After%20the%20wings%20are%20done,%20drain%20the%20slow%20cooker%20of%20all%20accumulated%20liquid,%20wipe%20out%20the%20crock%20and%20add%20the%20wings%20back%20and%20coat%20them%20with%20this%20sauce.%20Switch%20it%20to%20warm%20until%20you%20are%20ready%20to%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWoodstock%20Wings%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20Author:%20Judith%20Hannemann%20Serves:%201%20cup%20%20%20Ingredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%C2%BC%20cup%20Jack%20Daniels%20%C2%BC%20cup%20dark%20brown%20sugar%20%E2%85%93%20cup%20ketchup%201%20tbs%20vinegar%20(I%20used%20cider)%201%20tbs%20chipotle%20flavored%20hot%20sauce%201%20tbs%20honey%201%20tsp%20Sriracha%201%20tsp%20garlic%20powder%201%20tsp%20onion%20powder%202%20tbs%20butter%20%20%20Instructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20all%20ingredients%20in%20a%20small%20saucepan.%20Cook%20over%20medium%20heat,%20stirring%20occasionally.%20When%20sauce%20begins%20to%20bubble%20around%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20pan,%20lower%20the%20heat%20and%20cook%20for%20about%2015%20minutes,%20stirring%20frequently.%20Sauce%20should%20have%20the%20consistency%20of%20pancake%20syrup.%20Pour%20over%20cooked%20wings%20and%20toss%20to%20coat.%20Makes%20enough%20to%20coat%20about%202%20dozen%20wing%20pieces%20%203.5.3208%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYum%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
