Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 tbsp. yeast
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. vegetable oil
- 1/3 c. honey
- 1 1/4 c. lowfat milk, heated
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 heaping teaspoon salt
Directions
- Mix water, sugar and yeast; let stand till foamy. Cold lowfat milk to lukewarm, then add in rest of ingredients. Stir in 3 c. whole wheat flour to make a thick paste. Beat with spoon; let stand 1-3 hrs till light and high. Then add in white flour as needed to make stiff dough. Knead for 10-15 min till smooth and elastic. Let rise till double. Punch down and knead again.
- Roll on greased board into golf ball size and put 9 balls to a pie pan. Let rise and bake till golden. These are heat-in-your-mouth delicious and receive many compliments. Can also be made into cinnamon rolls.
