Ingredients

  • 4 c. very hot water
  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast (4 1/2 tsp.)
  • 1/2 c. honey (or possibly molasses or possibly brown sugar)
  • 8 c. whole wheat flour
  • 3 c. white flour
  • 1/2 c. wheat germ
  • 1/2 c. commercial bran
  • 4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. oil

Directions

  1. In medium bowl combine water and yeast along with a spoonful of the honey. Measure all dry ingredients in large bowl. Add in remaining honey, the oil and the yeast mix. Mix thoroughly. Knead till smooth. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface; cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a hot place till double in bulk. Punch down and let rise again (this gives a finer texture to the bread). Form into 4 loaves and place in greased pans. Cover and let rise about 30 min. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 10 min reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake 30 min longer. Turn out on wire racks to cold.
