Ingredients
- 3 sq. (3 ounce.) unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 Large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 c. minced walnuts
- 1/3 c. raspberry jam
Directions
- Heat chocolate with shortening in a double boiler; cold slightly. Blend together Large eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt; stir in chocolate mix, then flour. Mix in walnuts. Turn into well-greased 8 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 40 min. Spoon jam over warm brownies; spread carefully. Let cold. Spread Velvet Chocolate Glaze over brownies and top with chocolate dipped walnuts, if you like. Cut into 12 bars.
- VELVET CHOCOLATE GLAZE: Heat 1 oz unsweetened chocolate. Blend in 2 Tbsp. each butter and light corn syrup. Stir in 1 c. powdered sugar, 1 Tbsp. lowfat milk and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix well.
