.%20This%20recipe%20does%20use%20a%20candy%20thermometer%20to%20make%20it%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebut%20don't%20be%20alarmed%20by%20that,%20it%20takes%20a%20little%20time%20and%20patience%20but%20is%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecompletely%20worth%20the%20effort%20involved.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESee%20the%20tiny%20vanilla%20beans?%20So%20flavorful!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20few%20years%20ago%20I%20wanted%20nothing%20to%20do%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewith%20beer%20at%20all%20and%20only%20liked%20the%20cocktail%20style%20drinks%20but%20after%20I%20had%20my%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eson%20for%20some%20reason%20I%20started%20to%20like%20the%20flavors%20of%20different%20beers,%20and%20surprisingly%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edarker%20beers%20are%20my%20favorite.%20I%20started%20to%20realize%20that%20some%20beers%20have%20very%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecomplex%20flavors%20when%20the%20person%20consuming%20them%20pays%20attention%20to%20what%20they%20are%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edrinking.%20I%20really%20enjoy%20baking%20and%20cooking%20with%20different%20beers%20now%20because%20it%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eadds%20a%20nice%20variety%20of%20flavor%20to%20whatever%20I'm%20making.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20this%20caramel%20sauce%20the%20actual%20alcohol%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Econtent%20is%20cooked%20out%20so%20that%20is%20not%20a%20concern,%20and%20if%20anyone%20tries%20it%20then%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efirst%20thing%20they%20will%20say,%20won't%20be%20%22is%20there%20beer%20in%20this?%22.%20It%20will%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eprobably%20be%20%22yum!%22.%20The%20flavor%20isn't%20overwhelming%20it%20simply%20has%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Enice%20a%20caramelized%20vanilla%20flavor%20that%20complements%20so%20many%20different%20dishes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20could%20also%20try%20a%20mocha%20stout,%20coffee%20stout,%20or%20chocolate%20stout%20(or%20porter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efor%20any%20of%20those)%20in%20this%20caramel%20it%20would%20work%20beautifully%20and%20add%20a%20nice%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eflavor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVanilla%20Bean%20Porter%20Caramel%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Over%20medium-high%20heat,%20simmer%20the%20porter%20for%20about%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E10%20minutes,%20stir%20occasionally.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Stir%20in%20the%20butter%20and%20brown%20sugar.%20Cook,%20without%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Estirring,%20until%20the%20mixture%20reaches%20234-235F%20on%20a%20candy%20thermometer,%20about%2012%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eminutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Remove%20the%20mixture%20from%20heat%20and%20slowly%20stir%20in%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20whipping%20cream,%20vanilla%20paste,%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Put%20the%20pan%20back%20on%20the%20stove%20over%20medium%20heat%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Estir%20constantly%20until%20the%20caramel%20sauce%20is%20thickened%20slightly%20and%20has%20a%20creamy%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eappearance.%20Pour%20into%20a%20glass%20jar%20or%20storage%20container%20and%20cool%20at%20least%20two%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehour%20at%20room%20temperature.%20Store%20the%20caramel%20sauce%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20(it%20will%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Enot%20thicken%20so%20much%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20that%20it%20cannot%20be%20drizzled%20with%20a%20spoon).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20before%20using.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20adapted%20slightly%20from%20Betty%20Crocker%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20may%20be%20linked%20up%20to:%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
