Ingredients
- 2½ cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 3 eggs, at room temperature
- 1½ cups buttermilk, at room temperature
- 1½ cups strong black coffee, hot
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- 4½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- For the Cookies and Cream Filling:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- ½ cup salted butter, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 12 Double Stuf Oreos, crushed or finely chopped
- For the Chocolate Fudge Frosting:
- 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 4½ cups powdered sugar
- 1½ unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 6 tablespoons whole milk or half-and-half
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- For the White Chocolate Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 4 tablespoons whole milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 ounces white chocolate, melted and still warm

,%20as%20was%20my%20grandma%E2%80%99s%20roasted%20potatoes%20(potatoes,%20check!).%20That%20left%20me%20with%20Oreos%E2%80%A6%20I%20had%20a%20glimmer%20of%20inspiration%20and%20given%20that%20I%20hadn%E2%80%99t%20made%20a%20big,%20tall%20layer%20cake%20in%20quite%20some%20time,%20I%20thought%20I%20was%20due.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20chocolate%20cake%20bakes%20up%20dense%20and%20fudge-like;%20everyone%20who%20had%20the%20cake%20yesterday%20loved%20this%20and%20said%20it%20reminded%20them%20of%20a%20brownie,%20which%20my%20family%20prefers%20over%20traditional%20fluffy%20cake.%20Next,%20the%20cookies%20and%20cream%20filling%20is%20basically%20a%20simple%20cream%20cheese%20frosting%20loaded%20with%20crushed%20Double%20Stuf%20Oreo%20cookies.%20It%E2%80%99s%20basically%20one%20of%20the%20most%20delicious%20concoctions%20I%E2%80%99ve%20tasted%E2%80%A6%20and%20I%20tasted%20quite%20a%20bit%20of%20it%20before%20using%20it%20in%20the%20cake%20(oops).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20to%20cover%20the%20cake%20in%20a%20frosting%20that%20was%20more%20fudge-like%20than%20fluffy%20or%20buttery,%20and%20definitely%20succeeded%20on%20that%20front.%20(Again,%20something%20I%20could%20totally%20eat%20with%20a%20spoon%20and%20may%20have%20taste-tested%20more%20than%20my%20share!)%20The%20inside%20of%20the%20cake%20layers%20was%20chocolate-white-chocolate%20and%20I%20wanted%20the%20outside%20of%20the%20cake%20to%20replicate%20that,%20as%20well.%20I%20used%20the%20white%20chocolate%20glaze%20from%20the%20coconut%20bundt%20cake%20I%20made%20this%20summer,%20minus%20the%20coconut%20flavors.%20It%20turned%20out%20perfectly%20%E2%80%93%20it%20was%20nice%20and%20thick%20and%20just%20crept%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cake.%20I%20piped%20some%20rosettes%20on%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cake,%20arranged%20some%20Oreos,%20and%E2%80%A6%20tada!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20cake%20was%20absolutely%20a%20show%20stopper%20%E2%80%93%20everyone%20ooh%E2%80%99ed%20and%20ahh%E2%80%99ed%20when%20they%20saw%20it%20in%20the%20kitchen,%20and%20then%20continued%20to%20do%20so%20once%20they%20dug%20in.%20Most%20importantly,%20the%20birthday%20girl%20loved%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20there%20is%20an%20Oreo%20lover%20in%20your%20life,%20you%20owe%20them%20this%20cake!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFour%20years%20ago:%20Pumpkin%20Bars%20with%20Cream%20Cheese%20Frosting%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESix%20years%20ago:%20Soft%20Cheese%20and%20Pepperoni%20Bread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUltimate%20Cookies%20and%20Cream%20Oreo%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%2012%20to%2016%20servings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20Time:%201%20hour%2030%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20Time:%2030%20to%2040%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETotal%20Time:%202%20hours%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20triple%20layer%20chocolate%20cake%20with%20a%20cookies%20and%20cream%20filling,%20covered%20in%20a%20chocolate%20fudge%20frosting,%20topped%20with%20a%20white%20chocolate%20glaze%20and%20garnished%20with%20more%20Oreo%20cookies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Cake:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20Garnish:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdditional%20Oreo%20cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Make%20the%20Cake:%20Preheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20Grease%20three%208-inch%20round%20cake%20pans,%20line%20the%20bottoms%20with%20rounds%20of%20parchment%20paper,%20grease%20the%20parchment,%20then%20flour%20the%20insides%20of%20the%20pans,%20tapping%20out%20excess;%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20In%20the%20bowl%20of%20an%20electric%20mixer%20(or%20large%20mixing%20bowl%20if%20you're%20using%20a%20hand%20mixer),%20sift%20together%20the%20flour,%20sugar,%20cocoa%20powder,%20baking%20soda,%20baking%20powder%20and%20salt.%20In%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20eggs,%20buttermilk,%20coffee,%20oil%20and%20vanilla.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Add%20the%20wet%20ingredients%20to%20the%20dry%20ingredients%20and%20mix%20for%202%20minutes%20on%20medium%20speed.%20Scrape%20the%20sides%20and%20bottom%20of%20the%20bowl%20and%20mix%20for%20an%20additional%2020%20seconds%20(the%20batter%20will%20be%20very%20thin).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Divide%20the%20batter%20evenly%20among%20prepared%20pans.%20Bake%20for%2020%20minutes%20and%20rotate%20the%20pans%20in%20the%20oven.%20Continue%20to%20bake%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20into%20the%20center%20of%20one%20of%20the%20cakes%20comes%20out%20almost%20clean%20(with%20a%20few%20moist%20crumbs),%20about%2012%20more%20minutes.%20Cool%20the%20cakes%20(in%20the%20pans)%20on%20wire%20racks%20for%2020%20minutes,%20then%20carefully%20turn%20them%20out%20onto%20cooling%20racks%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Make%20the%20Cookies%20and%20Cream%20Filling:%20Using%20an%20electric%20mixer%20on%20medium%20speed,%20beat%20the%20cream%20cheese,%20butter,%20and%20vanilla%20until%20smooth,%20about%202%20to%203%20minutes.%20Reduce%20the%20mixer%20speed%20to%20low%20and%20add%20the%20powdered%20sugar,%20mixing%20until%20completely%20incorporated.%20Increase%20the%20mixer%20speed%20to%20medium-high%20and%20beat%20until%20fluffy,%20about%201%20minute.%20Using%20a%20rubber%20spatula,%20fold%20in%20the%20crushed%20cookies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Make%20the%20Chocolate%20Fudge%20Frosting:%20Place%20all%20ingredients%20in%20a%20food%20processor%20and%20process%20until%20smooth,%20about%201%20minute,%20stopping%20to%20scrape%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20bowl%20halfway%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20For%20the%20White%20Chocolate%20Glaze:%20In%20a%20large%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20powdered%20sugar,%20milk,%20and%20vanilla%20extract%20until%20incorporated%20and%20smooth.%20Slowly%20stir%20in%20the%20white%20chocolate%20with%20a%20rubber%20spatula.%20The%20glaze%20should%20be%20thick%20yet%20pourable;%20if%20the%20glaze%20appears%20too%20thick,%20thin%20it%20out%20with%20addition%20milk,%20a%20tablespoon%20at%20a%20time,%20until%20you%20reach%20the%20desired%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8.%20Assemble%20the%20Cake:%20Place%20one%20of%20the%20cake%20layers%20on%20a%20serving%20platter%20and%20spread%20with%20half%20of%20the%20cookies%20and%20cream%20filling.%20Top%20with%20another%20cake%20layer%20and%20spread%20with%20the%20remaining%20cookies%20and%20cream%20filling.%20Top%20with%20the%20remaining%20cake%20layer.%20Frost%20the%20entire%20cake%20with%20the%20chocolate%20fudge%20frosting.%20Pour%20the%20white%20chocolate%20glaze%20onto%20the%20center%20of%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cake%20and%20allow%20to%20spread%20and%20drip%20over%20the%20sides.%20Refrigerate%20for%20at%20least%2015%20minutes,%20or%20until%20it%20is%20completely%20set.%20Using%20the%20chocolate%20fudge%20frosting,%20pipe%20swirls%20on%20top%20of%20the%20cake%20and%20garnish%20with%20additional%20Oreo%20cookies.%20The%20cake%20can%20be%20kept%20at%20room%20temperature%20if%20being%20served%20the%20same%20day.%20If%20you%20are%20making%20the%20cake%20ahead%20of%20time%20(or%20have%20leftovers),%20store%20it%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20but%20allow%20it%20to%20sit%20at%20room%20temperature%20for%20at%20least%201%20hour%20prior%20to%20serving.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
