Add a photoGreat cupcakes for children parties or themed showers; ideal for weddings with bright colors
Ingredients
- 1 box butter cake mix
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1/3 c. oil
- 1 c. A.P. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1 1/3 c. milk
- 1 tsp. butter flavor
- 1 tsp. clear vanilla
- 2-3 tsp. butternut vanilla flavor
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs
- food color
Directions
- In large bowl, combine milk, oil, flavoring, sour cream, and butter.
- Mix until frothy.
- Add cake mix, flour, sugar, salt, and eggs. Mix well, leaving a few lumps.
- Separate batter evenly into smaller bowls.
- Color each bowl with desired color.
- Spoon one color at a time into prepared cupcake tin. ( do all red first, then green, etc.)
- Once all colors are used, take a toothpick or fork and swirl the colors together to create tye dye look ( over mixing will turn colors brown and cupcakes may cave after baking)
- Bake 330* 20-25 minutes until pricked clean
- For added dynamic, add sprinkles to the batter for a funfettie-esque appeal.

I actually have done this for a birthday cake before. I did a tie dye 8 inch 3 layer cake and covered each layer with a different color of buttercream then covered it in neon pink fondant. The top had a tie dyed fondant peace sign. The little girl was estatic!I've cooked/tasted this recipe!

Thanks!!!! I have done it for 2 birthday parties as well as a bridal shower that had a specific color scheme. The bridal shower was cupcakes with a button, ribbon, and bow theme and I did Royal Icing buttons on the cupcakes, They were a smash hit!I've cooked/tasted this recipe!
