The Warm and Toasty and More Perfect Fall Drinks Recipe

The Warm and Toasty and More Perfect Fall Drinks

I love this cocktail business and part of the fun is in crafting something that results in the unexpected. This is one terrific example. I was provided a sample of Cranberry Puree from The Perfect Puree in Napa Valley and I asked the folks there if they could suggest a cocktail to make with it; my life is crazy busy frantic lately and it’s nice to take a break from resourcing and creating something new and just recreating a cocktail from an expert. Luckily they had this recipe created by Manny Hinojosa that combines bourbon, cranberry and apple cider. I was game but I have to admit I wasn’t really feeling it. Not like some; I knew when I put together a tequila and Mexican hot chocolate last year that it was going to be fantastic but I feared this would be just a bit too girly and as much as I love the occasional sweet concoction, I know I have male readers too and try to showcase cocktails for a broader spectrum.

I hope that Mr. Hinojosa will accept my apologies. This was Amazing. Amazeballs. Fabuloso. I mean really, really good. My only sadness was that I had already made this Bourbon Rickey and had taken some liberties with tasting it while working on photos so after one sip I had to hand this over to my daughter so that I could drive home from her place. You know…that practicing what you preach business? She loved it too. I might have sneaked in one more sip before actually walking out the door and it was a hard one to let go. The combination of apple cider and cranberry was terrific and that bourbon just upped the warmth factor to a perfect level. I lightly sugared the whipping cream with brown sugar and the cinnamon sprinkled on top made it all perfect. It’s like fall in a warm mug with a bit of spirit to boot.

The Perfect Puree? I’m thinking I’ll need a separate freezer to store all of the flavors I think I must have! Cranberry is seasonal so get that now but they have an amazing array of flavors and I just wish I didn’t want them all!

Want more cocktails? I’ve also included some favorite Fall cocktails featuring drinks from both my blog and those of friends. If you’re feeling the need for something warm and toasty…you will surely find something here including a mocktail or two!
