Ingredients

  • Raw rice - 200 grams (1½ cup)
  • Split skinned green gram / Moong dal / Paasi paruppu - 25 grams (1/8 cup)
  • Boiled milk - 100 ml (1/4 cup)
  • Water - 900 ml (6 cups)
  • Grated coconut - A handful (optional)
  • Jaggery / Vellam - 500 grams
  • Cashews - 5 to 10
  • Raisins - Few
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp (or 4 pods)
  • Salt - a small pinch (optional)
  • butter-oil">Ghee / Clarified butter - 2 to 3 spoons (Add more if you wish)
