good tasting meatballs, a little different than your regular meatball recipe. my family loves them,especially over mashed potatoes. Enjoy!!!

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 8 slices day old bread
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. chopped onions
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3 onions peeled,thinly sliced
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 4 tlbs. flour
  • 1 3/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. Beat eggs
  2. add milk and crumbled bread
  3. let stand 5 minutes
  4. beat with fork till bread is fine pieces
  5. add next 5 ingredients
  6. beat well
  7. saute sliced onions in skillet with some of the oil till tender and brown, remove from pan put aside
  8. drop meatballs in pan, brown on both sides ( meatballs will be soft, if too soft add a little more bread) also adding oil as needed, remove from pan repeat untill all meat is used,
  9. in pan add flour, salt, pepper, and 13/4 cup mllk slowly
  10. stir until thick,
  11. arrange meatballs in gravy, place onions on top simmer for 20 minutes
  12. serve with mashed potatoes, and peas or veggie of your choice.

  • Recipe needs to be revised to add the amount of milk you are suppose to mix with the eggs and bread crumbs, lead to confusion...
