Easy prep recipe made with your choice of dough topping and leftover turkey (or chicken).
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped, cooked turkey
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tbs. butter
- 1 tbs. oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- few pinches dry thyme
- 1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
- 1-2 tbs. fresh parsley, chopped
- chicken broth
- salt and pepper
- topping: phyllo dough cut slighty smaller than the top of a 9x9 baking dish, or refrigerated flaky dinner rolls or biscuits, or pie dough cut to fit top of pan, as it will shrink a bit
- paprika
Directions
- Heat oven to 375 F.
- Heat 1 tbs. butter with the tbs. oil.
- Saute the onions and celery.
- Add another tbs. butter, then stir in the flour.
- Slowly add the milk.
- When thickened, add the other veggies, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper. If mixture is too thick, add a bit of broth.
- Pour the mix into the baking dish.
- Top with dough of choice.
- Bake 20-30 minutes.
