  1. Butter sides of heavy 2 qt saucepan. In it mix brown sugar, sugar, cream and corn syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat till sugar dissolves and mix boils. Cook to soft ball stage. Stir only if necessary. Remove from heat; cold to lukewarm. Don't stir. Add in butter and vanilla. Beat vigorously til it becomes thick and starts to lose its gloss, 3 to 4 min. QUICKLY spread in buttered 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Score while candy is hot; cut when hard.
