Ingredients
- 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup butter flavored shortening
- 1 egg yolk
- 2/3 cup cold milk
- 1 egg white
- 1 1/2 cups frosted cornflakes, slightly crushed
- 3 cups chopped rhubarb
- 3 cups sliced strawberries
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3/4 cup seedless strawberry jam
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (sub orange juice, if desired)
- 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
- Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur
- 1-2 teaspoons milk
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel, if desired

.%20Pulse%20until%20well-combined.%20While%20the%20processor%20is%20running,%20slowly%20add%20the%20milk%20and%20the%20egg%20yolk.%20Continue%20to%20mix%20until%20a%20mixture%20pulls%20away%20from%20the%20side%20of%20the%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dough%20is%20the%20trickiest%20part,%20but%20using%20a%20food%20processor%20and%20a%20silicone%20baking%20mat,%20really%20makes%20it%20easy.%20I%20find%20I%20use%20a%20little%20more%20flour%20doing%20it%20this%20way.%20If%20you%20don't%20use%20a%20food%20processor,%20start%20with%202%201/2%20cups%20of%20flour%20and%20add%20more%20if%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20a%20little%20worried%20that%20the%20dough%20would%20be%20too%20sticky%20to%20work%20with,%20but%20all%20was%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20dough%20onto%20a%20floured%20silicone%20baking%20sheet%20(or%20parchment%20paper),%20and%20gently%20knead%20in%20a%20bit%20of%20flour%20(just%20enough%20to%20make%20the%20dough%20easy%20to%20work%20with).%20Divide%20the%20dough%20in%20half.%20Roll%20one%20half%20of%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20large%20rectangle%20(it's%20easy%20to%20use%20the%20silicone%20baking%20mat%20as%20a%20guide%20for%20this)%20about%2016%22%20X%2010%201/2%22.%20%20Using%20the%20silicone%20mat,%20flip%20the%20dough%20into%20a%2015%20X%2010%20inch%20sheet%20pan.%20Even%20out%20the%20dough%20with%20your%20fingers,%20pushing%20it%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20pan;%20brush%20with%20egg%20white.%20Sprinkle%20the%20cornflakes%20evenly%20over%20the%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20bran%20flakes%20this%20time,%20but%20any%20cereal%20flakes%20are%20fine.%20This%20step%20helps%20to%20prevent%20the%20pie%20juices%20from%20making%20the%20dough%20too%20wet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20rhubarb%20and%20the%20strawberries%20in%20a%20large%20bowl;%20sprinkle%20with%203%20tablespoons%20of%20flour.%20In%20a%20small%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20jam,%20orange%20liqueur,%20and%20orange%20peel.%20Gently%20fold%20the%20jam%20into%20the%20fruit%20and%20pour%20mixture%20evenly%20over%20the%20pie%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20make%20my%20apple%20pie%20slices,%20I%20use%20a%2013%20X%209%20inch%20pan,%20but%20the%20fruit%20in%20this%20is%20tart%20enough%20that%20less%20filling%20per%20bite%20is%20OK.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20out%20the%20remaining%20pie%20dough%20and%20carefully%20place%20it%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20fruit.%20Make%20a%20few%20cuts%20in%20the%20dough%20to%20vent,%20then%20brush%20it%20with%20a%20little%20of%20the%20egg%20white.%20Bake%20at%20375%20degrees%20F.%20for%2040-45%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20crust%20is%20golden%20and%20the%20fruit%20is%20bubbling.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20forget%20to%20put%20a%20drip%20pan%20underneath%20while%20baking...it%20might%20get%20a%20bit%20messy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20whisk%20the%20glaze%20ingredients%20together,%20adding%20a%20little%20more%20liquid,%20if%20needed,%20to%20thin.%20Drizzle%20over%20warm%20pie.%20Allow%20the%20pie%20to%20cool%20for%20at%20least%20an%20hour%20for%20the%20filling%20to%20set.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFeel%20free%20to%20change%20out%20the%20rhubarb%20with%20some%20blueberries%20or%20blackberries%20if%20you%20don't%20care%20for%20rhubarb.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20big%20Thank%20You%20to%20all%20of%20our%20Veterans%20and%20have%20a%20safe%20and%20Happy%20Memorial%20Day!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
