Spicy Shrimp Over Fried Green Tomato Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 sm shallot peeled
  • 2 x garlic cloves peeled
  • 1/8 c. red warm sauce
  • 3/4 c. canola oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pch freshly-grnd white pepper
  • 1 lrg shrimp peeled, deveined
  • 1 x green tomato
  • 1/2 c. corn flour
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Directions

  1. Place shallots, garlic, red warm sauce and vinegar in a blender and blend til smooth. Slowly add in the oil to the mix while it is still blending. Season to taste and chill. Let shrimp marinate in this mix for about a half hour.
  2. Heat fryer oil to 350 degrees. Slice a green tomato about 1/2-inch thick. Mix the two flours and Old Bay seasoning together. Place the tomato in the flour mix to completely coat ut. Next place it in the buttermilk and again back into the flour mix. Place into the fryer and cook till golden.
  3. Take out the shrimp and grill them till done (about 3 min each side). Place them on top of the fried green tomato and place this over a fresh tomato sauce. Serve immediately.
  4. This recipe yields 1 serving.
