  1. pit and quarter the plums and put them in a heavy pot, add the sugar, sinnamon stick and cloves, stir well and let sit overnight or 8 hrs
  2. the next day heat the oven to 350 put the pot unlidded into the oven and cooki for 2 hours stirring occasionally
  3. sterilize jars and lids
  4. after plums have broken down and liquid is reduced into a thick jam, remove the pot from oven and discard stick and cloves. puree the jam with immersion blender
  5. ladle into jars,best to turn jars upside down after screwing on lids....though i usually just let them seal the regular way, maybe back in the oven for 15 min
