Given below is a simple recipe for red velvet Bundt cake that is moist and delicious in the center and covered with fluffy cream cheese frosting.

  • In your kitchen you will need:
  • 1 1/2 cups of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of fresh buttermilk
  • 2 eggs at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons of red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 2 1/2 cups of flour (use cake or all-purpose flour)
  • 1 3/4 cups of white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • While the cake cools you can prepare the frosting using:
  • 1 cup of cream cheese frosting
  • 1/2 cup of softened butter at room temperature
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Directions

  1. Preparation:
  2. - Grease a Bundt pan with oil and dust a little flour on the inside. If you are using a non-stick Bundt pan then you can skip the oil.
  3. - Preheat the oven to 350F.
  4. - In a large mixing bowl, break in the eggs and add the buttermilk. Beat them together using an electric blender at high speed until they are well mixed.
  5. - Add the sugar to the mix and beat some more to dissolve the sugar.
  6. - Add the white vinegar, red food coloring and vanilla essence to the mix and beat well.
  7. - In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder.
  8. - Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and beat the mix well so that there are no clumps present in the mix.
  9. - Pour the prepared batter in the greased Bundt pan.
  10. - Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  11. - Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Remove from the pan and let the red velvet cake cool on a wire rack for about an hour before applying frosting
  12. While the cake cools you can prepare the frosting using:
  13. - 1 cup of cream cheese frosting
  14. - 1/2 cup of softened butter at room temperature
  15. - 2 cups of powdered sugar
  16. - 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
