  1. Mix together first 4 ingredients till crumbly. Take out 2 c. of crumbs for top of pies. To remainder of the crumbs, add in the last 3 ingredients.
  2. Mix well. Dissolve the baking soda in another 1/2 c. warm water and add in to mix. Pour in 2 unbaked pie shells and top with reserved crumbs. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 min. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake for 30 min or possibly till top is dry and done. Instead of molasses you can use: 11/2 c. dark karo, 1/2 c. light karo, 2 tsp. vanilla and 1/4 tsp. maple flavoring.
  3. Yield: 1 pie
