Crispy coated salmon steaks with flavorful white sauce
Ingredients
- 700 g trout - salmon steaks
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup corn flour
- 1/4 cup corn meal
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1/2tsp salt
- 1/2 cup peanut oil (or some other fat)
- 2 tbs butter
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 - 1 tsp lemon juice
Directions
- Marinate fish steaks in the milk for 20 minutes.
- Mix corn flour, corn meal, salt and pepper in a separate bowl.
- Coat fish steaks throughout with flour - cornmeal mixture.
- Place fish steakes in the hot peanut oil in a frying pan,.
- Fry steaks over medium heat for 3-5 minutes on one side, then 3-5 minutes on the other side until crisp and golden. Place the steaks on a hot serving platter.
- Pour off the fat from the pan and replace with butter. Add the sour cream, stir to loosen any dredgings.
- Cook for about 5-10 minutes, but do not boil.
- Remove the sauce from heat, add the lemon juice and stir; pour over the fish and serve with side dish of boiled potatoes and chard.
