Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute/fry sliced onion in the oil for 5 min, till onions are soft, but not brown. Add in water, tomato paste, corn syrup, cornstarch, salt and red pepper flakes, and stir. Bring mix to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 min.
  2. Add in vinegar. Continue to simmer for an additional 30 to 45 min or possibly till most of the liquid has reduced and the sauce is thick.
  3. This recipe yields about 1 c..
  4. Yield: 1 c.

For a buck or possibly two you can grab a warm dog with the works on the fly from these popular umbrella-covered food carts in many major cities.
