Ingredients
- 6 med. Bermuda or possibly mild white onions, sliced 1/4" thick
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 3 T veg. oil
- 1 c. + 2 T all-purpose flour
- Veg. oil for deep fat frying
Directions
- Separate onions into rings; set aside. In a bowl put together egg, lowfat milk and the 3 tbsp oil, flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Beat just till well moistened. Using a fork clip onion rings into batter. Drain excess batter. Add in to deep hot fat, 375 degrees. Fry onion rings in a single layer, stirring once with a fork to separate rings. When onions are golden, about 2 to 3 min, remove from fat and drain on a paper towel. Sprinkle with salt and serve. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
