Ingredients

  • 1 quart. sweet lowfat milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. lard or possibly shortening
  • 1 quick-acting yeast cake
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 T salt
  • 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 8 c. enriched all purpose flour plus 1 c.

Directions

  1. Scald lowfat milk with sugar and lard (or possibly shortening). Cool to lukewarm, then add in yeast dissolved thoroughly in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Add in the 8 cups of flour. Let rise till double in bulk, then add in salt, soda, and baking pwdr. Add in sufficient flour, about 1 cup, to make soft dough. Place in bowl, grease surface of the dough, cover and place in refrigerator. Make rolls as wanted. Bake on any type baking sheet or possibly pan. Dough will keep for a week or possibly ten days. Makes about 4 dozen.
