Quick Blackberry Sauce Recipe

Quick Blackberry Sauce

I was making a quick trip to Trader Joe’s the other day. Okay, it wasn’t such a quick trip, but I couldn’t resist the beautiful blackberries that were in the produce isle. So I grabbed a basket of them and brought them home.

I love blackberries with my yogurt. Then I started thinking, ooh I should make a blackberry sauce.

I like to try to make fruit sauces using a minimal amount of sugar, which is what I did with the recipe.

Have patience using the fine mess sieve to get as much juice out of those berries as possible.

Just a few simple ingredients and you will have your own home made blackberry sauce.

Serves: 1½ cups

Ingredients

1½ teaspoons lemon juice.

Directions

in a saucepan with a spout, combine all the ingredients and cook on medium until the berries are nice and soft. About 10 minutes

reduce the heat to medium-low and smash the berries as much as you can.

Remove from heat and add the lemon juice.

Carefully pour the berries through a sieve and discard the seeds.

Store in the refrigerator in a container with a lid.

It should last about 5 days.

Now I need to make something to drizzle this beautiful sauce all over.

Hmm. lemon mousse, angel food cake? Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
