Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lrg Onion minced (abt 2 c.)
- 3 x cloves Garlic chopped
- 3/4 lb Leanest grnd beef
- 1 can Plum tomatoes - (28 ounce)
- 1 can Tomato paste - (6 ounce)
- 1 Tbsp. Dry basil
- 1/2 tsp Grnd pepper
- 1/2 tsp Granulated sugar
- Â Â Salt to taste
Directions
- Heat oil in large skillet. Add in onion; saute/fry till translucent/soft. Add in garlic; saute/fry briefly. Add in grnd beef. Cook, stirring and breaking the beef into small pcs, till no pinkness remains.
- Add in tomatoes, crushing with a spoon. Add in tomato paste, basil, pepper, sugar and salt, stirring to combine. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 min, stirring occasionally. Serve as a dipping sauce for Toasted Ravioli (see recipe) or possibly over warm pasta.
- Yield: About 5 c..
