Pork Chop Majestic Recipe

I got this recipe on a trip to New Orleans.
For a pork dish that's "not like the rest". Uses basic, old fashion bacon grease, It's a keeper!

  • 6 center cut pork chops with filets 3/4" thick
  • Seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced in thin rings
  • 6 tablespoon sherry
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • garlic salt


  1. Sprinkle garlic salt on pork chops
  2. Coat them in seasoned bread crumbs
  3. Brown in bacon fat
  4. Dissolve bouillon cube in boiling water
  5. Add to chops
  6. Simmer covered for 1 - 1.5 hours
  7. Turn once
  8. If desired, thicken the sauce with a little flour before serving with rice or a potato dish

    I love this recipe and have cooked it for over 20 years. I was checking here to refresh my memory and realize that adding the sugar, soy and sherry to the water after melting the boillion cube was left off of the directions. It is a family favorite of ours. Just be prepared to add to the gravy if it cooks down. I don't always use bacon fat, sometimes I just use vegetable oil. Delicieux!
