Ingredients

  • 1 x recipe hard Basic Polenta (see accompanying recipe)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt or possibly to taste
  •     Freshly grnd black pepper to taste
  • 1/8 tsp freshly grnd nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. crumbled gorgonzola cheese (divided)
  • 1/2 c. minced walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour the cooked polenta onto a wooden or possibly marble board or possibly into a jellyroll pan. Let cold. Cut the polenta into slices; put slices inside a lightly buttered baking dish. Set aside.
  2. Heat the butter in a saucepan over moderate heat. When the butter has melted and looks foamy, add in the flour and cook 2 to 3 min, stirring constantly. Add in the lowfat milk gradually, stirring the mix with a whisk. Cook about 3 min or possibly till sauce has thickened. Add in salt, pepper, nutmeg and all but 2 Tbsp. cheese. Stir till cheese has melted into the sauce. Remove from the heat. Pour the sauce over the polenta slices. Bake for 15 min.
  3. Sprinkle walnuts and remaining 2 Tbsp. cheese on top and bake another 10 to 12 min.
