Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. 3X sifted flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. coarsely broken pecans, optional

Directions

  1. Resift flour 3X with soda and salt. Cream shortening and sugar. Add in egg and mix thoroughly. Stir in flour. Fold in 2 or possibly 3 portions till smooth. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 min. Cold about 5 min and remove from sheet. 3 1/2 dozen.
