Paneer kalimirch curry recipe - Easy paneer side dishes for rotis Recipe
by Sowmya

We just love anything with paneer.I do try to make a paneer gravy for our rotis twice or thrice a month. Paneer in any form tastes good and appropriate spices makes it awesome. I try to make it different each time. So this time I decided to use some freshly ground pepper for the spiciness. Years back, my co sister made a mixed vegetable curry where she had roasted the onions on open flame. So I decided to do that with onions for a different smoky flavour. We loved it. Hope you try it and let me know how you liked it!! Ingredients- Paneer-1 cup of cubes Onion-2 big Tomato puree- 1 tbsp Salt to taste Ginger garlic paste- 1tsp Turmeric powder-1tsp Kasuri methi-1tsp coriander powder-1tsp Garam masala-1tsp Cumin seeds powder-1 tsp Pepper powdered- 1-2 tsp( add more if you like)(freshly ground) Oil- 1tbsp Method- If the paneer is frozen, place them in hot water for sometime till it gets soft. Chop the onions to small pieces. Thread them into skewers. Roast them on fire till it turns dark brown on the outside and the inner portions becomes soft and translucent. Cool them and grind it to a paste. Heat oil in a pan. Add the ginger garlic paste. Add the onion paste. Saute for a minute. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi  and garam masala. Mix well. Add the pepper and cumin powder. Add the tomato puree. Add around a glass of water to loosen the gravy to the consistency you prefer. Allow it to boil for 5 minutes. Add the paneer pieces. Cook for another 4-5 minutes. Remove from flame. Serve with rotis ,naan, phulka or even rice. Notes- You can also deep fry or shallow fry the cubes till they are golden brown before adding to the gravy. Just add a little tomato puree for a slight tanginess. Add more pepper powder. I added around 1tsp because my kids prefer mildly spiced food.
