  1. Cut tortillas into wedges. Fry in warm oil till crisp. Drain on paper towels and salt to taste. Remove casing from sausage and crumble into skillet. Sautee sausage, grnd beef and onion till meat is well cooked.
  2. Pour off grease and add in salt to taste. On a 10- x 15-inch baking dish or possibly large ovenproof platter, spread refried beans and top proportionately with meat mix. Cover with chiles. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Drizzle taco sauce over cheese. (This may be covered and refrigerated at this point for later use.) Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 min or possibly till warm. Remove from oven, sprinkle with green onions. Put a mound of mashed avocado in the center, and put dollops of lowfat sour cream over all. Place fried tortilla pcs around edges of platter and serve. Keep appetizer hot over a warming tray. This may be served as an appetizer for about 12 people. It may also be a casual main dish for 4 to 6 people.
