  • 5 lb Grnd beef, lean
  • 5 lrg Onion, minced
  • 40 ounce Tomato puree, can
  • 15 ounce Tomato paste, can
  • 30 ounce Kidney beans, rinsed & drain
  • 2 1/2 quart Water, or possibly more
  • 10 Tbsp. Chili pwdr
  • 2 1/2 x Garlic, to taste
  • Oregano

Directions

  1. Saute/fry THE ONION in a non-stick pan, or possibly in a little butter till tender. If you want the chili warm, saute/fry with the chili pwdr. When the onions are limp, add in the beef, and brown, breaking up with a spoon. (Drain if desired). Add in puree, paste, chili pwdr if you didn't brown it, beans, and 16 ounce. water. And salt & pepper if desired it. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours., stirring occasionally.
  2. Add in more water if it gets too thick. Good served over mashed potatoes. You may need more water, depending on the cooking temperature. And you can adjust the amount of chili pwdr to taste. And you can add in spices of your choice. This is an easy dish for camping.
