This is a novel way of making pickled cucumbers. The recipe originates in Germany where it is called Senfgurken.

Directions

  1. Peel the cucumbers, de-seed and cut into medium sized strips. Slice the onion into rings. Bring the vinegar, water, sugar and salt to the boil. Add the cucumbers and boil for 5 minutes. Add the onion rings, bay leaves and mustard seeds.
  2. Store in an airtight container
