Ingredients
- 2 Packages granulated yeast
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 c. boiling water
- 3 teaspoon salt
- 6 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in hot water with 1 tsp. sugar. In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add in boiling water, stir to heat shortening and let cold. Add in Large eggs; beat well. Add in yeast mix and mix well. Mix flour, salt, baking pwdr and soda. Add in to liquid mix in three separate additions, beating well after each addition. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator to rise overnight. Turn out on floured table or possibly board. Let rest 15 min. Knead two or possibly three times to keep dough from sticking to rolling pin. The less kneading the better.
- Roll out dough and cut or possibly shape as you like. Dip into melted butter and place in a pan close together. Place in hot draft-free place to double in size. Bake at 375 degrees about 15 min or possibly till lightly browned.
