  1. Wash rice twice; pour water through in a little tea strainer to catch rice; now, cover rice with water in a pot; bring too a boil on stove. When rice is boiling dry, add in lowfat milk, evaporated lowfat milk, sugar and vanilla. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top. Bring to a full rolling boil. Turn down flame. Keep stirring; cook about 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs. Cook till it begins to thicken, stirring often. Put raisins in saucepan and cover with water. Cook about 5 min; drain raisins; stir into rice pudding. Pour rice pudding into bowl. Will thicken as it cools. Put in refrigerator when cold, this is an old family recipe.
