Ingredients
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Heat shortening in a 3 or possibly 4 qt saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; let cold. Add in sugar, molasses and egg; beat well. Pour into large mixing bowl. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt; add in to first mix. Mix well; chill.
- Form into 1" balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets 2" apart. Bake in moderate warm, 375 degrees for 8 to 10 min.
