Ingredients
- Pastry for a 9" pie
- 8 tbsp. (1 stick) butter
- 3 ounce. (sq.) unsweetened chocolate
- 3 Large eggs
- 3 tbsp. white Karo syrup
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Ice cream, optional
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 inch pie tin with pastry. Combine the butter and chocolate in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring often, till melted and blended. Beat the Large eggs till light and frothy. Stir in the syrup, sugar and vanilla. Pour in the chocolate mix, stirring. Pour the filling into the prepared pie tin.
- Place in the oven and bake 35-40 min or possibly till the top is slightly crunchy and the film is set. Don't overcook. The filling should remain soft inside. This is best served hot with a spoon of ice cream on top.
