Ingredients
- 1/2 head red cabbage
- 1/2 head green cabbage
- 1/2 lrg Spanish onion, peeled
- 4 lrg Or possibly 5 carrots, peeled
- 4 lrg Or possibly 5 potatoes, peeled
- 1 can (14oz) kidney beans, rinsed
- 3 x (28oz) can plum Tomatoes
- 1 can Tomato paste
- 1 tsp Salt
- Â Â Pepper
- Â Â Basil
- Â Â Parsley
- 1/4 lb Bacon, cooked
- 2 x 3 polished sausage, Pre-browned
- 5 slc ham, diced
Directions
- Slice cabbage, onions, carrots. Dice potatoes. Saute/fry onions in leftover bacon drippings. Put all ingredients in pot. Add in water to cover all (if needed). Cook for 3-4 hrs stirring occasionally. I use LOTS of pepper since this is supposed to be a PEPPERY winter warming, sinus clearing soup. Add in sausage whole or possibly sliced to soup and cook for another 20 min before serving. Serve with buttered bread and lowfat sour cream dolluped on top (remove lowfat sour cream for low cal
