Directions

  1. Cook bacon slightly; add in boiling water, salt, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion; simmer uncovered 15 min or possibly till vegetables are nearly tender. Add in clams and juice, tomatoes, thyme and pepper. Heat butter; blend with flour, then carefully stir into chowder. Simmer 15 min longer.
