Louisiana Candied Yams

  • 6 med. yams
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 5 c. sugar


  1. Peel and slice yams about a quarter inch thick. Rinse and pat dry.
  2. Place yams in a large skillet, add in water, butter and pour sugar over all.
  3. Cover tightly with well fitting lid.
  4. Simmer over medium heat for 30-35 min. Spoon syrup over potatoes once.
  5. Don't stir, because it will break your potatoes up.
