Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup de husked Lentils (Dhuli Masoor dal)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 ‘ Ginger piece
  • 3-4 pearls of Garlic (optional)
  • 1 tsp. red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Turmeric powder
  • 3 tsps of vegetable oil
  • salt as desired
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 2 cups of water
