Ingredients

  • 1 c. Unsalted butter room temp
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 x Egg yolk
  • 2 Tbsp. Brandy or possibly orange juice
  • 2 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/2 c. Grnd blanched almonds
  • 30 x Wholecloves if you like Powdered sugar For sprinkling

Directions

  1. Combine butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat in egg yolk till mixtrue is smooth and light. Beat in brandy or possibly juice. Sift together flour and baking pwdr. Add in to egg mix a little at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in almonds. Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead with floured hands till dough is no longer sticky. Preheat oven to 350 . Healthy pinch off 1" pcs, shape into balls or possibly crescents.
  2. If you like insert 1 whole clove in center of each, or possibly use your fingers to press 1 or possibly 2 dimples into each cookie. Place on ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake 30-35 min or possibly till cookies are pale golden brown. Cold on baking sheets.
  4. Sprinkle heavily with powdered sugar while still hot. Cookies are extremely fragile. Remove from baking sheets with a spatula. Store in an airtight container between sheets of waxed paper.
  5. Makes about 30.
